Canon Final Evaluation (Canon)
So first of all I did research on examples of posters and what codes and conventions they contain. This helped me get to know more about posters and what I will need to do to make my own. This will ultimately help me with my final product and it's production style. I also researched into journeys and what makes something a journey. This helped further my knowledge on journeys and what they contain this helps with production because my project is on journeys. After that I did some research into my target audience so I could get to know more about who they are and what they like. This will help me with my final product because I could then make sure to do something that would suit my target audience. My target audience was young 16 to 24 year old's so I made sure to base my product around them. Here are a few pictures from my research PowerPoint as you can see I did a lot of research on various different things.
After that I began to plan my product I did a quick sketch (Concept) of what I wanted to do and explained it a little bit. This will help the company and producers get a better idea of what I'm doing and how I plan to do it. If you don't do this then you will leave everyone involved in a state of uncertainty which could ultimately ruin your production process and final product.
Here is a picture of my Canon concept art keep in mind I was given a black marker to try and draw my concept art the art skills are poor. However as you can see it does give you an idea of what I want to go for. I decided to chose a college because my product is targeted towards young 16-24 year old's and most of those people are in some form of higher education. After that I went out and took my pictures for the project. I did this using my phone (Galaxy S20 FE) and I took them at college and in my back garden. I needed to make sure that pictures where took during the day so they matched each other and didn't look out of place. Unfortunately I couldn't take a picture of a person walking so I had to not include that in my final product. However other than that I didn't struggle with any of my other images.
After this I uploaded my pictures to Photoshop and began editing them together. I go into greater depth about this in my post production diary however long story short I merged the 2 images together using various different tools then created a few separate colour variants.
Here is a picture of my main poster as you can see I merged 2 pictures together and added text under the Canon logo.
You can really see what I did when you see this alongside they original image.
This is a picture of my preferred image I also decided to experiment with the colour schemes and filters.
As you can see I made 2 alternate variants of my poster where I changed the colours to see if another colour scheme would suit my poster. However I prefer the first one due to it's nice
natural colour scheme that also makes the Canon logo and slogan stand out. I think the second one makes the slogan hard to read. As for the 3rd one I think the pink on the windows ruins it appeal however I like the slogan colours because I think it stands out.
Personally I prefer natural colour schemes when it comes to photography based work so I therefore have a particular taste for the first poster.
So as a whole The Canon Brief has helped me develop my photography skills and further my understanding on the industry as a whole. My favourite part was editing the 2 images together since I learned a new skill I never had before. So as a whole I think the Canon Brief was solid and helpful.
