My Post Production Diary For The Podcast (Smile Podcast)
So when it comes to editing podcasts I will admit I'm very inexperienced and with there being no video I got a bit stuck on what to add so I kept it quite basic.
For the editing software I used Logic Pro because It's practical and I already recorded the podcast using Logic so it made sense to stick with it.
Logic Pro is an audio recording software often used to record audio based media such as interviews and podcasts. The computer I'm using to edit is a Apple Mac made by popular tech brand Apple.Logic helped me put the podcast together so I could use it for this project. Without Logic I would be pretty stuck because it has been crucial to my podcast creation and production.
The first thing I did was listen to my podcast and cut out all of the fails and blank parts. This makes the podcast better because there is less unnecessary filler boring the consumer. To do this I turned on advanced tools equipped scissors and every time I needed to cut something out I'd click the cmd button and start cutting. This simple trick makes your podcast way better so I'd highly advise you give it ago if you haven't already. The next thing I decided to do was add music to my podcast the music I picked was a non copyrighted vaporwave track called Aurora. The music adds to the podcast and makes it more professional and less awkward. I made sure to alter the volume of the music to blend it in with my voice. If you have the music to loud and it overshadows your voice then you could potentially ruin your podcast. In order to implement the track I emailed myself the file and downloaded it to the Mac. I then dragged the file into Logic and carried on from there. I then decided to loop the music to the end of the project so it stays on throughout the podcast. I made sure the music I picked didn't have any lyrics to prevent the lyrics from interfering with my voice. After that I decided to use the Channel EQ to polish up my voice. This edit allowed me to alter the tone and pitch of my voice by clicking on the dots and dragging them up and down. This edit is extra useful if you are constantly moving away from the microphone whilst your recording because it can make your voice sound more balanced. I used this edit to improve the tone of my voice to make it sound cleaner than it did before. So as a whole I didn't really run into any issues whilst editing so I'd consider it a success. This podcast has helped me learn more about the podcast industry and furthered my understanding on how they work. I have developed some key skills such as how to control your voice as well as some nice recording skills such as time management. So i'd consider this process to be a massive success for my development and project.
