Canon Post Production Diary (Canon)

Once I had took my pictures I loaded them into Photoshop and began editing. I used Photoshop because it's very convenient, useful and accessible. Photoshop allowed me to create and edit my poster using filters and edits.

The first thing I did was put both pictures on one page. I did this by opening another image and dragging it onto they other one I had open. This allows me to merge the 2 pictures together which is crucial to my poster

design. This edit is really simple and basic yet crucial to the products progression.

The next edit I did was add a layer mask so I could edit the image without permanently damaging it. This is good for reverting mistakes and errors as well as encouraging experimentation. This is a good thing to add because it makes the process easier.

After that I decided the fade the 2 images together using the gradient tool. This helped me to merge the 2 pictures together and create they effect I wanted. In order to do this I dragged the line across to where I wanted the split to be and let go. This effect is crucial to my design.

After I decided to polish it up by using the clone stamp tool. The clone stamp tool allowed me to blend the 2 images in better by increasing the gradients and switching colours in order to make it look realistic. This tool helped me to improve they overall quality of my poster so it was very useful.

After I had sorted out the Image blending I then I added the Canon logo and added a slogan. I added the Canon logo and placed it in the bottom right corner because the project is for Canon so I need to make sure that everyone knows that's it advertising Canon. I also added a white stroke to the logo to make it stand out however I did also decrease they opacity of it to make it look cleaner. The slogan I added was back in a flash because I feel as if it fits the poster well since your getting to 2 very different locations quickly. I also made sure that I placed it directly below the Canon logo and added a yellow glow around the text to make it stand out.

Here is a picture of my final design! This is just a quick leak I took on my phone camera.

This experience was a success because it helped me develop various Photoshop skills that I otherwise wouldn't have known. This brief has taught me how to merge images on Photoshop which is a handy skill to learn. As a whole I'd say that this project was successful.

I also did a few other variants where I experimented with the colour schemes and filters.
As you can see I changed the colours to see how they would look. I personally don't feel as if the last 2 hit the mark as well as they original. I think that the colours are a bit off putting as well as unrealistic. Hence why I submitted the first one as my primary project.
